An arboretum provides ideal growing conditions

The word ‘Arboretum’ has the same meaning in English, French and Dutch: it describes an environment that is designed to provide ideal growing conditions for each individual tree, within a larger collection. The team of teachers at Arboretum College will recognise the true nature of the young people hidden behind their adolescent behaviour, and provide the individualised environments each student needs to develop their strengths.

Rather than forcing the growth of our young trees, we will provide good earth and gentle guidance so they may naturally unfold their own potential. Our aim is to help students become happy, autonomous and enterprising young adults who are able to transform their passions into professions.

The values of Autonomy, Innovation and Responsibility (AIR) are at the heart of Arboretum College’s education philosophy – we believe students who experience AIR during their youth will go on to become internally motivated and self-directed adults, with powerful long-term benefits for their all-round success in life.

We create a vital balance in our education programme between imparting skills for life-long learning, core academic knowledge and essential social and emotional intelligence.

Our Creativity, Action and Service (CAS) programme complements the academic programme to provide all students with cultural and social/emotional learning experiences.

We seek both Belgian (Flemish and francophone) and international families who understand the value of an excellent trilingual education, who are determined to equip their children to meet the challenges of modern life, and who are willing to invest both time and money into giving their children the very best start.

Students at Arboretum College will be citizens of the world, and we encourage them to look outwards to other people and cultures to develop their insight and sensitivity and build their leadership skills.

We also encourage our students to look inwards, understand themselves better and learn how to transform their weaknesses into strengths.
