Description

The word ‘Arboretum’ has the same meaning in English, French and Dutch: it describes an environment which is designed to provide ideal growing conditions for each individual tree, within a larger collection. The team of teachers at Arboretum College will recognise the true nature of the young people hidden behind their adolescent behaviour, and provide the individualised environments each student needs to develop their strengths.

Rather than forcing the growth of our young trees, we will provide good earth and gentle guidance so they may naturally unfold their own potential. Our aim is to help students become happy, autonomous and enterprising young adults who are able to transform their passions into professions.

Beginning in September 2012, we launched our ‘etude aerée’ – an after-school study support group based on the principles of AIR (autonomy, innovation, responsibility) open to students in the first two years of high school, from French or Flemish schools. Offered on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, it has proved very popular with parents and students, and only a few places remain available. For the students enrolled in our etude, we offer guided revision sessions during the end-of-term examination periods.

For enquiries or registration please contact our director, Muriel de Bergeyck.

Our current offer is completed by a Wednesday afternoon art workshop led by Priscilla Leman, again with only a few places available for new students.

For the 2013-14 academic year, we will open a first degree class (year one and two of high school) in our temporary location at 267 chaussée de Bruxelles in 1950 Kraainem (private premises with a surface area of 270m2, flanked by a workshop and a large garden; the site can house up to 40 students).

Every year, the College will increase enrollment so that in September 2018 we will offer a complete cycle of high school classes, accepting a maximum of 300 students. For the future, we are looking for a site in the south-east of Greater Brussels to establish our permanent campus for Arboretum College.
