Assessments
Every Thursday morning, one lesson period is scheduled for a series of ongoing assessments which will cover about six weeks of material, each week devoted to a different subject. These assessments, or class tests, will be either open book or tests that evaluate essential knowledge.
Core knowledge subjects like mathematics, languages, sciences and Latin will be evaluated at the end of each term in the form of examinations. Stand-alone subjects will be tested on the six-week cycle, but will not be included in the examinations. We plan to organise a week of revision and study before the examinations.
Every week, an on-line progress report containing academic results and, more importantly, comments on attitude and behaviour will be available to students and parents, with the aim of encouraging students to focus on developing their strengths.
End-of-day supervised studies begin with a review of the day’s lessons, thereby allowing any remedial needs to be directly identified and resolved before they become an obstacle to learning.
